Dear Greater Minnesota Community Member,

We are creating a fund-raising effort that is intended to benefit local Cancer resources, research, and the fight for a cure. The scope of this disease is vast, and all of us have been affected in some way; either through associates and loved ones, or personally. The diligent research, resources and support available for those impacted by cancer deeply influence the overall experience for a cancer patient and their family. It is for this reason that we have started Greater Minnesota Fight for a Cure.

“Casting for a Cure” is a fund raising event to support the Greater Minnesota Fight for a Cure vision. My Mom, who passed away from cancer in November 2008, loved to fish, and we see the event as an opportunity to bring community and families together around a great Minnesota pastime while raising money for a great cause. This event will be held on September 12, 2009. It is a catch-photo-release, fish your favorite body of water event. An awards ceremony will follow the event at the Blue Line Bar and Grill, Sartell, MN. The ceremony includes skill and luck based fishing awards determined by photo documentation of your catch with an official Casting for a Cure fish measuring stick, a photo slideshow presentation from the participants, an award for top pledge donations, and a silent auction.

Our planning committee has laid the groundwork for a successful event. However, we cannot be successful without community and business support. We have developed a 3 tier structure for the event sponsorship. Please review the following tiers and if an event sponsorship cash donation is not possible this year, we ask that you consider an in-kind donation, pledge award, or silent auction donation.

The Greater Minnesota Fight for a Cure fund is held by the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. For tax-deductible cash donations greater than $250 please make your check to “CMCF” with “Greater MN Fight for a Cure” on the note line and mail to CMCF 101 7th Ave. S. #100 St. Cloud, MN 56301.
